WIP: Helion Rain - Prepping The Minis & Setting The Scene

Time to prep the minis for that lovely base from last week. Into the drink for a bit and then some ultra sonic bath time for the eBay lictor :) While that goes on I'll prep the scouts...

The scout with the shot gun needs a more aggressive pose. All it takes is a small leg re-positioning.
Now lets green stuff the crap out of that hack job...
While we have that GS out let's give these guys some Raven Guard fetishes. Cue reference pics!!!
Big tough space marines picking on cute little birds - very grimdark o_O
~DING!~ Ooh! Our lictor is clean...
Well, we still have all our GS out might as well get everyone assembled.
Now let's figure out where we are going to put them to bring this scene together before we prime everything.
Wow. Nice! Like a moment captured in time. Also, they are sooooooooo dead. Everybody is ready for priming...
I'm going enamel for these as it will help cover the base better and the details on GW minis aren't so fine that they get clogged by the tough stuff.
***NOVA UPDATE***
More progress on Telion and the Scouts. I wasn't sure at first, but I decided on classic cream colored fatigues on these boys!
 Sniper scouts next.

Next Post: I start slapping paint on the Raven guard! Thanks for checking out this project and as always hit me up in the comments, troll that blog roll and remember; you can't spell paint without a little pain :)

  1. Thanks for your update Zab, always a pleasure to examine you work. Nice details you have added, I dont recall seeing that on CMON. Lovely work on the colours the light tan breaks the blue up nicely. Get a bit more shading on that TMM Skel would would be happy!

    1. Thanks but they'll get more shading and weathering later. It's my first time painting Ultras, though it's not my own color mix. I saw your classic metal preachers. I love those old sculpts - nice color combos BTW.

  3. It's all coming together nicely. Love the WIP photos. :)
I believe I have asked this before but are the ultrasonic baths expensive? Do you need to put a cleaning agent into the water when using the bath?

    1. The one i got was 39 CAD, 29 on sale. Please don;t look at that picture and think it was that simple. I'm a promo prducer i can;t help but make things look better tor easier than they are ;) It did take a bath simple green, then did two cycles through the ultra sonic. Then to get the residual super glue out of the crevasses there was some work with the dremmel and some files and finally a gentle scrub with a suede cleaning wire brush to shine it up a bit. You can use diluted simple green or mild dish soap in the ultra sonic too. I use dish soap and water to clean my resin kits before prep.
