WIP: NOVA Open Ironstrider Preshading Fun!

Trying out the new Golden Hi Flow Transparent acrylics. They are fun...

Colors above used for preshading below. Pretty self evident. Enough words! Pictures now!
 Retouch highs with white.
Now candy coat.
Very glossy and not as orange as the pics suggest, but that will save time on decaling later :)
Metal had the same treatment...
and then the cream colors on the legs.
Well worth exploring if you are looking for a good alternative to Tamyia's clears or Iwata's Com arts.

Next post: More preshading fun with the rest of the NOVA minis and some decals on the Ironstrider. That's for following along, let me know what you think in the comments and remember; you can't spell paint without a little pain :)

  1. Do you just use them straight in the air brush? Or are they just like normal acrylics, but less opaque?

  2. Looking good. With pre-shading, I'm assuming the coat that comes after must be thin enough so that the pre-shades show through. Am I right? Haven't done pre-shading before hence the question.

    1. Yes normally you have to be very thin with your mix and go in very light layers, but with the hi flow stuff you can be a bit careless because it's formulated to be translucent :)

    2. Ahhhh ... translucent. That's helps a lot for sure.

  3. Brilliant! That's going to look sharp man - loving that translucent red!

    1. I'm well into the weathering phase right now so i am in the home stretch. Glad you like it! Really speeds things up too :)

By all means have your say, but please keep it civil.
